Installation

In Touch.

This installation consists of 250+ collaged letters sent over 5-years of long-distance friendship. The act of letter-writing has allowed us to remain in touch – both metaphorically and physically. The envelopes capture our material surroundings (e.g., old newspapers, dried leaves, flight tickets, magazine scraps, voting ballots, croissant wrappers, etc.), and also capture ourselves (containing our diaries in loose-leaf form).

The “In Touch” installation encourages viewers to become participants by mailing a letter, questioning the digital methods of communication, acknowledging their physical surroundings, and rethinking connection across time and distance.
